Prema ORLEN Team is back in action at Spa-Francorchamps

2022 FIA WEC, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps Prema Orlen

Prema ORLEN Team will be back in action this weekend. The Italian squad will line up for the second round of the FIA WEC, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, where the legendary venue will host the return of the championship on European soil.

The Belgian event will also be crucial in the preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

After finishing fourth in its endurance racing debut at the 1000 Miles of Sebring, Prema ORLEN Team returns with the trio of Robert Kubica, Louis Delétraz and Lorenzo Colombo. Both Colombo and Delétraz have enjoyed recent success, as they both won with the team in the ELMS opener at Paul Ricard. In addition, Delétraz landed straight from Laguna Seca, where he won the last IMSA race in California. With Kubica at the forefront, the team now looks forward to building and enhancing its LMP2 experience overseas.

Only a few circuits around the world have the same history and appeal as Spa-Francorchamps. The 7km layout, which has hosted Formula 1 and Endurance for decades, is steeped in motorsport but has recently been revised to allow for higher safety margins, especially on the fastest, most challenging and most iconic section, the Eau Rouge -Radillon complex.

The 6-hour race will be held on Saturday, with Practice 1 kicking off on Thursday. As always, weather is expected to be an important variable, and while forecasts generally predict favorable conditions, raindrops could come at any time.

Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps is an incredibly important event for us. It’s our return to the world stage after our Sebring debut, with much learned and much to be learned, especially when we consider that the next event will be the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We can see Spa as a rehearsal, but on the other hand, we still have a lot of work to do to prepare for such a monumental effort, just weeks after our debut.”
