Trident hits top-5 in Monza FRECA test

2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine

Trident completed its FRECA today in Monza. Following its series debut between Barcelona and Le Castellet, the Italian squad has completed preparations for the home circuit, which will also host the season opener for the Formula Regional European Championship 2022 completed by Alpine from April 22 to 24.

Trident placed all its drivers in the top-10 over the four sessions and showed impressive potential at the legendary Italian Grand Prix racetrack. Leonardo Fornaroli was sixth overall and fastest among rookies in the opening segment on Tuesday, before completing the day in P6. Fornaroli stayed in the top-10 on Wednesday by claiming ninth place overall in the final segment.

Tim Tramnitz was P6 and P4 in Tuesday’s AM and PM segments respectively. On Wednesday morning, the German racer was slowed down by traffic in what was expected to be his fastest lap. However, he put up a convincing race pace in the afternoon.

New Chapter for Trident in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine

Last but not least, Roman Bilinski took his first step at Monza, delivering a positive progression over the two days, as he continued to increase his pace and eventually ended up in P7 overall, P3 among rookies, at the end of day 2.

Roman Bilinski: “Had a really solid two days of testing and I think we learned a lot as a team. It was my first time here in Monza, but I was lucky to have Tim and Leo as benchmarks, and I improved a lot thanks to them. Can’t wait to get the season started”.

Tim Tramnitz: “The two test days were quite good, especially the first one when we had a strong pace all the time. Today it was difficult to manage the traffic, but it is something you have to learn to deal with in qualifying, so it was good to learn it in testing. We also learn a lot set-up-wise, so we are now ready for the race”.

Leonardo Fornaroli: “We had two extremely positive days again at Monza. I managed to take full advantage of the new tires, and on day 1, we ended up close to the lead. On Wednesday, I was disturbed by traffic, and the lap time doesn’t show our real potential. The race pace is great and I cannot wait for the first round of the season.”
