Pablo Sarrazin, a member of the KCMG Driver Development Project (KCMG-DDP), put in an outstanding performance in round 2 of the 2022 French F4 Championship in Pau to score his first points of the season.

The cramped Circuit de Pau-Ville is notoriously tricky to overtake, but after qualifying in 16th Sarrazin made big progress in Race 1 to move up to 11th place, just one place and 0.2s outside the points.

The 16-year-old started 15th for Race 2 after a penalty for another driver and caught up, working his way up to sixth at the checkered flag and taking four championship points. He added two more to his tally with a ninth place finish in Race 3 after another strong drive.

The championship now travels immediately to Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours for round 3 of the season this weekend (May 13-15), with the 4.25-kilometer former host of the French Grand Prix set to present a very different challenge to the narrow streets of Pau.

PABLO SARRAZIN
“I really enjoyed the lap in Pau, it’s an incredible track! Overall it was a positive weekend, I managed to score my first points in the series and make some great overtakes. A big thank you to Edo for his help with the set up and coaching and to the entire KCMG team for their support.

“I’m looking forward to jumping in the car again at Magny-Cours. It’s a track I know, I’ve driven there before in an old F4 car. There are a lot of fast corners and it’s a very technical track, but there’s a long straight, so overtaking will be easier than on Pau. I can’t wait to get out on track and hopefully score some more points.”

EDOARDO LIBERATI KCMG-DDP DRIVER COACH
“It was a solid lap for Pablo in Pau, he made a good step forward from his debut with Nogaro. He showed great character and determination in all three races, doing some fantastic overtaking on a very difficult track. Race 2 was the highlight of the weekend, Pablo moved up nine positions and was very fast the entire time.

“We will want to confirm Pablo’s progress in Magny-Cours and continue to develop his driving style. I know the track very well, it has a good mix of high and slow corners. As an FIA Grade One track it is obviously a lot wider than Pau and Nogaro so overtaking should be easier. Our goal for this weekend is to qualify in the top eight and score strong points in all three races.”

PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“I’m excited to see the Pablo’s progress this weekend in Pau. After a tough qualifying, he got his head down and put it all in all three races, earning two points. He works very well with Edo, which is very encouraging for the coming season.

“Magny-Cours will be another challenge for Pablo, it’s a great track and hopefully he can have a strong qualifying and score even more points. He has made good progress so far this year, so he will try to continue that trend this weekend.”
